Paradisus, Playa del Carmen

The place I continuously come back to.

After visiting this beautiful Melia resort 5 times, I feel pretty confident to recommend this resort if you ever want to go to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

Since I have gone many times before, I was a little apprehensive to go to the resort again, as I wasn’t sure how it would be after Covid. I am glad to say I am happy that we decided to take a girl's trip and enjoy a week of relaxation in an all-inclusive five-star resort. I believe everything was handled incredibly well. The staff was always cleaning and ensuring everyone was following the rules. One of the perks about this resort is that they conduct complimentary covid-19 testing so you can return to the US or any other country. This makes traveling much easier and safer. Tip: Do not take a covid test at the airport. I highly suggest you do it with a sanctioned lab conducted by your hotel or your hotel's recommendation.

How to get there?

I flew from Miami to Cancun and booked my private round trip with Otium. I prefer pre-booking my transportation, especially one that works directly with the hotel. This makes the whole arrival and leaving process much easier, and carefree.

Tip: At the airport, there will be loads of other companies trying to get your attention to ride with them, I highly suggest you pre-book and do not take a regular taxi. Also sometimes to save a few bucks, they have rideshare which ends up taking twice as long to get to your hotel as they can get up to 5 stops before your hotel.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen is a 5 start Melia Resort. The Resorts consist of three main areas, providing the best experience for all guests.

- Esmeralda - Family, including a mini water park

- La Perla - Adults only

- The Reserve - VIPs

The property is surrounded by natural mangroves and just minutes away from La Quinta Avenida, perfect for shopping and nightlife.

The all-inclusive resort hosts 22 restaurants & Bars, 5 of which have won wine spectator awards. My ultimate favorite at this resort is Fuego, a Latin fusion and ceviche bar. They also have Mole, which is a Mexican contemporary style cuisine.

The main restaurants & Bars are:

- Fuego

- Mole

- Bana & Bana Family

- Vento

- La Palapa ( only adults )

The buffet options are also world-class, offering pretty much anything and everything you would want to eat at any given time. Chilaquiles for breakfast is no doubt my favorite choice.

The resort prides itself on its customer service and its daily activities. They have programming for every day. From sunrise Yoga to live-action musicals at night. You can either layout all day by the pool or beach with a drink in hand, or participate in water aerobics, arts & crafts, and more.

Oh and did I mention, Tequila Tasting?

How does the all-inclusive work?

Part of your nightly rate includes the all-inclusive portion. This gives you unlimited drinks and food for no additional cost. There is one restaurant on property called Sal that does have an additional charge if you chose to eat there. There are some premium alcohol brands that do have a charge, but I have never seen the need. They carry high-quality tequila, rum, and vodka, all included.

This resort is also known for its Yahi Spa. They offer a variety of services from massages, facials, mani-pedi which all include access to their steam room, sauna, relaxation area, and plunge pool.

Honestly, if you want a place to relax, eat well and soak up the sun, Paradisus truly is your paradise. The location is great if you want to explore the natural wonders of what Mexico has to offer.
